Áit Caol is Gaelic for “Thin Place.”  In the Celtic Tradition, this is a location where the veil between this world and the next is very thin, where the holy is palpable.  We invite you to experience such a place with us.

Come join a virtual celebration of Spring in all its glorious unpredictability!

Just as Spring promises growth and change, so does life.  Change requires  growth. Growth can be painful, and safe places are needed in order to be refreshed for the journey ahead.  St Brigit invites you to such a place, where you can indulge in a time of spiritual sanctuary and renewal in celebration of the Vernal Equinox.

St. Brigit’s Vernal Equinox celebration is a part of its Áit Caol series.  Áit Caol  (pronounced atch qweel) is Gaelic for “A Thin Place.”  These quarterly services are created to offer guests an experience of God through a unique liturgy, which combines ancient tradition with contemporary language.  They include specially designed and engaging meditation areas, which bring scripture to life, and ethereal music.

Ancient people marked this day with thanksgiving for the return of light and warmth. Spring promised rebirth and hope.  In the Christian church, the Vernal Equinox is significant in that it is used in determining the date of Easter, the first Sunday following the first full moon after the Equinox.

Dear Friends,

This week we observed Ash Wednesday and began our Lenten journey.  We have to admit that, in some ways, it seems as though Lent of 2020 never ended.  Our world has changed and won’t ever be quite the same again.  We long for freedom from the pandemic.  And yet, Spring will come in just one month.  The cycle of nature continues.  In the midst of this somber season, we have reason to hope.

The ancient Celts believed the Earth itself was alive and active under the surface at this time of year even though life could not yet be seen.  We, too, can grow and change within as we prepare for the miracle and gift of Spring.

So, we invite you to join us in this time of hopeful anticipation. We will celebrate the arrival of Spring at our virtual Vernal Equinox Service on Saturday, March 20, 6:00p.m., at www.facebook.com/stbrigit.

This will be the thirty-second service in St. Brigit’s Áit Caol series.  Áit Caol (pronounced atch qweel) is Gaelic for “A Thin Place.”  These services are created to offer guests an experience of God through a unique liturgy, which combines ancient tradition with contemporary language.  They include specially designed and engaging meditation areas, which bring scripture to life and ethereal music.

We do hope you will join us.  Feel free to share the attached flyer with your friends.
