Saint Brigit’s Faith Formation team will offer 3 different options this year during Advent.
1) Advent Digital Series: Thursday evenings (Dec 4th, 11th, and 18th) 5:30-6:15pm via Zoom.
In this series, no advance preparation is needed. Simply attend via zoom and join the conversation. We will view 1-2 Advent related digital short films followed by group conversation after each video. This offering is intended to be reflective – intentionally focused on the Season of Advent. Please see Fr. Tim (rev.stbrigit@hotmail.com) for questions related to this Advent digital series.
Zoom information: The Zoom link will be shared electronically through the congregation email list the day of each meeting. If you are not on our electronic mailing list, please reach out to Michelle Mrsan (stbrigitweb@gmail.com).
2) Family in Advent: At home ‘Word Study Video Series’ – For families with younger children
For those who would like a free resource for discussion at home with their kids, this is a fun series of four animated short videos (less than 5 minutes each) that can be discussed weekly with the whole household – designed for the whole family! This series is well done and highly recommended, emphasizing: hope, peace, joy, and love. This offering is for the household on their own time.
Below each video are reflection questions as well as additional resources if you would like to dig a little deeper together. If you would like assistance in how to foster spiritual and religious conversations with your kids, feel free to reach out to: Juanita Redfield (dredfield0026@msn.com), Demi Prentiss (demi.prentiss@gmail.com), Dane Barnes Chevdane@gmail.com), Annie Heney heneypartyof6@gmail.com), Alechia Potter (alechia.potter@gmail.com), or Fr. Tim (rev.stbrigit@hotmail.com).
For additional questions about this Advent offering, please contact Alechia Potter.
3) Advent Book Study: “How We Learn to be Brave“ for adults and “We Can be Brave“ for young adults, by Mariann Edgar Budde, Episcopal Bishop of Washington, DC.
Youth Study: Juanita Redfield will facilitate and lead these conversations within our youth program. All perspectives will be respected. See Juanita (dredfield0026@msn.com), for all youth-related questions.
Adult Study: You are invited to join us in the sanctuary after Sunday service to discuss the three themes of the book:
- November 30, Bravery as a Historical Throughline (Preface-Chapter 1)
- December 7, The Courage to Accept What Cannot be Controlled (Chapters 2-4)
- December 14, The Impact of Leadership in Cultivating Change (Chapters 5-Epilogue)
Read the designated chapters on your own each week, then grab a cup of coffee at Coffee Hour and come over to discuss what you read with us. Books are available for your own purchase at Amazon or your favorite bookstore. Scholarships are available. For questions related to this Advent book study, please see Nancy Trubee (natrubee@gmail.com).
There are YouTube videos related to this book as well as a podcast conversation between Bishop Budde and former Presiding Bishop Michael Curry.

Podcast search: “Learning to be brave with Mariann Budde” – June 27th, 2023.
Note: Please be aware that within Bishop Budde’s book, the bishop refers to some events and context that overlap with cultural discourse that may be sensitive. We hope positive, supportive conversations can happen through this study. You are encouraged to read the synopsis of this book to help you navigate whether this is a study you would like to participate in this Advent. You do not need to agree with the bishop’s perspective or the perspective of others. All perspectives will be respected, and the conversations will help guide us as we look to Faith Formation in 2026.
