Áit Caol Vernal Equinox Service
March 20 @ 7:00 PM - 8:30 PM
Come celebrate the return of Spring in all its glorious unpredictability!
Our Vernal Equinox celebration is a part of our Áit Caol series. Áit Caol (pronounced atch qweel) is Gaelic for “A Thin Place.” These quarterly services are created to offer guests an experience of God through a unique liturgy, which combines ancient tradition with contemporary language. They include specially designed and engaging meditation areas, which bring scripture to life, and ethereal music with a Celtic sound.
Ancient people marked this day with thanksgiving for the return of light and warmth. Spring promised rebirth and hope. In the Christian church, the Vernal Equinox is significant in that it is used in determining the date of Easter, the first Sunday following the first full moon after the Equinox.
Older children are welcome at the Vernal Equinox celebration. Childcare will be provided for children under age six. Guests are invited to come early to walk St. Brigit’s outdoor labyrinth, weather permitting.
